In the fourth generation Dr. Georg Böcker leads the family business with a clear goal: to shape the future of baking sustainably with sourdough.

By using sourdough purposefully we not only create exceptional taste but also actively help reduce food waste. This way, we promote a sustainable food culture that connects people worldwide while strengthening our responsibility for the environment.

Designing Green

– Our Packaging

For us, packaging is more than a wrapper: It is part of our sustainability strategy – practical, safe, and resource-efficient.

Packaging plays a key role in preventing food waste by protecting products and ensuring safe transport. Well-packaged sourdough products keeps its quality and safety intact until the end of shelf life, reducing unnecessary waste.

Especially for our gluten-free baked goods we rely on high-quality composite films that prevent contamination and ensure stability during storage.

Climate & Resources

Using resources wisely, living responsibility actively – for sustainable food production.

At BÖCKER we follow a holistic sustainability approach. From raw materials to energy consumption, packaging and recycling, we design processes to be resource-friendly and climate-conscious. Our goal: minimal waste, maximum efficiency, and an active contribution to climate protection.

With modern food technology and smart planning, we manage water, energy, and raw materials precisely and sustainably. Our food waste rate is consistently below 5%.

An internal sustainability team continuously analyzes processes, develops optimizations, and expands the use of renewable energy. Surplus food materials are supplied to a regional biogas plant – turning by-products into new energy.

For us, sustainability, resource efficiency, and climate protection are not trends – they are cornerstones of our quality strategy, today and in the future.

Green Energy

Efficient energy use and consistent emission reduction.

We are investing in green energy. Expanding photovoltaic systems on our production buildings creates more and more capacity for generating our own electricity. This clean energy flows directly into production – efficient, reliable, and sustainable.

Our fleet is also becoming greener: step by step, electric vehicles are replacing conventional transport. Alongside the vehicles we are investing in charging infrastructure and smart route planning.

This combination of self-generated power and e-mobility reduces our CO₂ footprint and makes us less dependent on fossil fuels and rising energy costs.

Our aim is to use energy efficiently, cut emissions consistently and make our processes fit for future – for sustainable growth that starts today and carries into tomorrow.

Shaping Responsibility Together

Founded in 2021, our sustainability team actively drives the long-term development of the company. We align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and take responsibility in the areas of ecology, social responsibility, and economy.

The focus lies on the sustainable use of resources and the protection of our environment’s regenerative capacity.

We live sustainability every day: with a code of conduct for employees and suppliers, a clear ethical framework and our membership in SEDEX.

Our goal is not only to think responsibility – but to live it, together as a team and with strong partners.
